MYDEX CIC’s CEO, David Alexander brings together all of those points
“Data is the new oil“ is the cri-de-coeur of Venture Capital backed start-ups. Take what is not yours and the road to riches will be built on other people’s data – this is the VC default.
How can we find a different way to run a sustainable business based on personal data without abusing it, stealing it or letting the hackers ransack it only to sell on the Dark Web?
Mydex CIC has an answer and it’s CEO, David Alexander is setting his stall by the 3 key assumptions that will deliver successful and sustainable outcome for all.
- We as individuals are able to accumulate digital portable proofs of claims that can be used to underpin our identity and broader entitlements and transactions we want to do anywhereonline.
- Identity (username and password) and identity assurance / verification will be separate from each other, so that we as individuals can use any credential supported by the evidence needed to prove our identity and access services.
- We as Individuals will be in control of our identity and the underpinning evidence, and can safely traverse digital services with privacy and security independently.
There is too much effort required today for individuals and organisations to successful complete online transactions. We need to reduce it dramatically to deliver the potential of a digital economy, strip out latency and risk in transactions. Addressing the three issues above make that possible in an encomically and social viable way.
Online voting and community engagement may be one of the uses of Mydex trust framework and platform.
Ira Bolyshevsky is on the Redecentralize.org team, leading the charge to shake things up and find a better business models than those based on stealing personal data. She will tell us about why and why now, as well as who is the enemy and where to join the campaign against the Internet cartel of Californian tech barons from Zuckerberg to Google, Gnip or affiliates hords of Big data-riders.
